When Lost Ark opened in 2011, one of the first photos posted to Facebook was of a fluffy tortoise-shell cat sitting in a box of Famicom games. The cat in the photo is Mao, an abandoned stray adopted from an SPCA sponsored adoption center. When I met her, she was 4 years old with health problems and a saucy attitude. I felt if I didn’t give her a home, she might never have one. I’m happy to say that today she is much healthier, much fluffier, and just as saucy.
Recently we enlisted local artist Kat Lamp(!) (http://www.katlamp.com/) to help turn Mao into our mascot extraordinaire. After all, she had been with me from the start. You’ve probably already seen her around our Facebook page! She will be popping up more, but she may put on a costume or two. Like myself, Mao loves Nintendo’s original 8-bit NES console and we had some fun ideas for bringing the two together. Tomorrow we will share our new t-shirt designs, courtesy of Kat Lamp, that bring together some of our favorite NES games and our new mascot, Mao! What are they, you ask? Well, we’ll save that surprise for tomorrow; we really hope you like them.

These shirts will bring together two things that I care about very much: video games and animals in need. With the former I’ve had the pleasure of being able to share my passion with people in a very public way every day of the week. With the latter I have not been able to do nearly enough.

With this in mind, we are starting an ongoing donation drive in support of SPCA of the Triad. You can learn more about this organization by following this link: http://www.triadspca.org/
While anyone is always welcome to donate directly (details are on their site), we will be collecting food donations for SPCA of the Triad. Below is a list of suggested donation items.
To thank you for your support, we will offer FREE arcade admission to anyone who brings by two eligible donation items! This offer is good anytime, any day of the week. Thank you for your support!
